Root canal treatments in Semaphore
Endodontic therapy, also known as root canal therapy, is a treatment involving the removal of a tooth’s pulp – a small, thread-like tissue in the centre of the tooth. This may be necessary if the pulp is damaged, diseased, or dead. Damage to the pulp can be caused by untreated dental decay, decay beneath a filling, tooth damage due to trauma, tooth grinding (bruxism), or gum disease.
In the past, damaged or diseased teeth were removed, but thanks to advancements in dental treatments and technology, root canal treatments can save teeth that would otherwise be lost.
The Procedure
First, we will determine whether a root canal is for you. To do this, an X-ray may be required at your initial consultation. This will give your dentist a clear picture of your dental health. From this point on, a series of appointments will be scheduled for effective treatment.
The treatment itself involves the removal of any damaged, diseased, or dead pulp inside the root of your tooth. The remaining space is then cleaned, shaped, and filled, sealing off the root canal to achieve a clean finish.
The experienced team at Semaphore Dental will make every effort to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment. From the moment you step through the door, you’ll be welcomed by our caring staff and any of your questions or concerns will be answered.
